A Russian-Inspired Holiday: Banana Republic Holiday 2012

DelectablyChic! was invited to attend Banana Republic’s holiday 2012 preview last week. Many of the pieces in this collection feature designs inspired by the upcoming film, Anna Karenina. The film, which will previewed at the Toronto International Film Festival this coming September (and opening in theatres in October), stars Keira Knightley and Jude Law. The collection is, of course, modern, featuring gorgeous black pea coats, pleated skirts as well as furry neck warmers, hats and other accessories.

Of course, black is not the only shade in the holiday collection.  Mustards and burgundies abound that will be great for the work day as well any office party or holiday events with friends and family with knee-length pencil skirts, cinched-waist coats as well as stacked heels and feminine satchels.  One of the most interesting pieces is a sweater with a removable hoodie that would be great with skinny jeans or leggings and paired with knee high boots on that cold winter day.  Deep jewel tones were very noticeable in the accessories, with a favourite being a gorgeous necklace jewel tone stones.  As usual, there were some technology accessories, namely iPad cases.  Noticeably missing, however, were cases for iPhone, likely because The New One will have a different size (at least according to the rumours).

Banana Republic’s holiday collection will debut starting in October.
