Right before going to the shows at Fashion Week last Wednesday, I made a pit stop to at a PR agency for a session with Essie Weingarten, founder of essie nail polish along with other fashion/beauty media in the city. Essie was involved with several Toronto Fashion Week shows, including Pink Tartan, Chloe comme Parris as well as the always anticipated Khorhani Rug Show where rugs are turned into…couture.
Essie Weingarten talks to guests
At the event, Essie talked about nails (of course) and how she believes that wearing polish “completes” a look (which made me feel very naked as I don’t often wear polish on my hands). We were also introduced to some of the latest shades in the line, including some gorgeous neon colours that would certainly make fingers and toes pop as we head towards the warmer months (interesting tidbit: though neons are everywhere, L’Oreal, essie’s parent company was a little bit nervous when such shades were suggested as they weren’t sure if it would go well).
Pretty, neon shades!
There was also a Q&A where Essie answered questions ranging from what her favourite New York Fashion Week shows were (Tory Burch, Ralph Lauren, Carolina Herrera) as well as what shades to wear when meeting prospective in-laws (don’t shock the mother – only use wild shades if the mother is a fashionista herself) as well as tips for those who are interested in starting their own nail polish lines (one must be very in-the-know about trends).
Guests at the event listen attentively
The session provided amazing insight for this season and I only wished it could have been longer. Unfortunately most of us had to rush back to World MasterCard Fashion Week! Tips Nail Bar was also at hand to give complimentary manicures.
