Whoops! The news is not true, according to a note from a rep at Oxford Properties. The floor plan that was originally posted in this article was not supposed to be public and has since been removed. However, the Ann Taylor/Kate Spade speculation is still on my books, especially after Kate Spade sponsored a TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) movie in 2011. They even Tweeted about being in town. And Ann Taylor shot a collection in Toronto last year (or 2010) as well. Anyway, I took both of these as hints that they’d be coming soon.
If Ann Taylor is indeed opening, I’m hoping that it will carry petites – or at least pave the way for them to ship to Canada. Kate Spade already ships to Canada, but a boutique would mean that there’d be more choice – book cover clutches, anyone? Right now, the only place where you can get Kate Spade and Tory Burch is at Holt Renfrew, and the selection isn’t that great (especially for bags), so I’m definitely looking forward to them opening. The only question is whether the Tory Burch boutique will carry size 4 1/2 Revas. I know that they go down to 4 at Holt Renfrew. Oh well, Holts isn’t that far from either store.
Note: There still has been no announcement about a men’s J.Crew store at Yorkdale. Who thinks the Eaton Centre store, which will sell both the guys’ and women’s collections, is going to open before Yorkdale?
