The first Ann Taylor store in Canada, which officially opens at the Toronto Eaton Centre today, celebrated with a private grand opening party last evening.  The store, located on the third floor next to the Apple Store, features many of this season’s pieces, including a small petites collection, which is good news for those of us under 5’4″.  Favourites that are available right now include the deep green jeweled sweater,  As with many other fashion events, the party featured delicious hors d’oeuvres (including a delicious mini flourless chocolate cakes) as well as shopping and speeches from reps from the company (including head of design, Lisa Axelson) and from breast cancer research, a cause that the company supports.

The event was very well attended by media, both “traditional” and bloggers.  Spotted at the event included Elaine from Toronto Beauty Reviews, Sharon from Backseat Stylers and Nicole from Dainty Girl. Next month, a second store will open at Yorkdale as part of the mall’s new wing.  Ann Taylor’s sister store, LOFT, is also slated to open at Yorkdale later this year.
