Anthropologie Cardigan: Why Don’t the Colours Match?

When I received the September Anthropologie catalogue, one cardigan, the Gilt Floribunda Cardi, really caught my eye.  In the catalogue (as with the posed shot with a model on a set), it had a gorgeous deep teal shade and the pattern, which were leaves, were a golden yellow colour.  The close-up product shot (with a white background), however, was much lighter, and the pattern doesn’t pop as much. I realize that lighting can change things (the first picture isn’t lit very well), but why so much?  Isn’t this the equivalent of Photoshopping models to look thinner?  If that’s the case, it would have been better had both images been shot in similar lighting.  It, after all, gives those of us who aren’t going to shop at a store a better idea of what something looks like.

That said, the leaf pattern on the black cardigan, at least online, stands out much more than the blue. I’ve tried to see what the cardigan looks like in real life, but unfortunately, the Anthropologie close to me is not carrying it right now.  For those who’ve seen the cardigan, which colour is it closer to?  Is this just a case of bad photography or editing?
