I am in love with Arthur Mendoça’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection. His return-to-runway collection, which consisted of a variety of different pieces including flowy dresses in all lengths and styles, was, according various media including Global News, influenced by Cleopatra. While I didn’t see it (either from a textbook or film perspective), there was definitely something regal and elegant about the looks. My top picks are a black floral below-the-knee dress (there’s also a shorter shift dress made from the same pattern), a white, purple and black dress with a simple ribbon belt as well as a flowing, burnt orange (orange shades seem to be a to be a theme for the upcoming season), one shoulder dress, despite it being more of a fall colour than spring. The gold peplum dress seemed to get a lot of love, especially online. However, unless one is tall and slender, it would just make a person look wide. Fashion isn’t just about what one sees on the runway, especially if most of the designer’s collection targets the general public.
Arthur Mendoça’s looks have been seen on many celebrities, including Nelly Furtardo, Micha Barton and Rihanna.
