Three Faves from Banana Republic x Marimekko

The Banana Republic x Marimekko collection lands in stores and online tomorrow  (May 22, 2014).  The collection is perfect for summer with its bright prints and colours.  And considering that the weather is definitely looking up (at least around here – we are going to be in the high teens to mid-20s (Celsius – that would be 60s-70s in Fahrenheit)), these pieces would be perfect for the weather.  Here are a look at three of our favourites.

Midlength Patio Skirt (Kivet print)

Banana Republic x Marimekko 1

I have to admit that the skirt is a favourite to LOOK AT, but I’m not sure how practical/wearable it really is.  For one, it’s not the best length for someone my height.  It’s also kind of costume-y looking.  I’d rather have looks that I could wear on a regular basis!  However, the top isn’t bad and I would consider wearing that with black pants.
V-neck A-line Dress in Siirtolapuutarha Print (and matching clutch)

 Banana Republic x Marimekko 2

Now this one is wearable.  It’s a bit more colourful than my typical wardrobe, but with the right amount of solid tones, it would be a bit more conservative, perhaps even office-appropriate (with a cardigan or blazer).  It’s definitely something I’d consider for a weekend out.
Caftan in Siirtolapuutarha Print

Banana Republic x Marimekko 3

I’m a fan of this print as well.  The dress works well as a casual, weekend piece as well as something one might wear at a resort, beach or pool.  I’d definitely add a straw hat to this one!

What about you?  Are you going to purchase any of these looks?  Price points for the collection will be around $50-200, depending on product.  Some items will be available in petites.
