Party Girl vs. Soft and Sweet for BASCH

Project Runway Canada alumnus, Brandon Dwyer’s line, BASCH is a mix of both soft beauty and the hard, sexy woman.  With short little black dresses, along with tiered and flowing dresses (that look more spring/summer than fall), there seems to be something for almost everyone. The looks seemed to be inspired by both the party girl as well as something more lady-like.

For the “party girl” looks, Brandon designed a series of very short dresses – ones that hit the models at above mid-thigh .  While yes, many designers make longer runway samples for their shows, I suspect that it is not the case for BASCH.  And even then, many of the tighter minidresses would still be too short – probably mid-thigh for average heighted women.  However, Brandon contrasted these pieces with some knee-length dresses as well as a few longer, flowy numbers – ones that are at a more appropriate knee or floor length.

While black was the dominating shade in the collection, other colours ranged from fall-like olives to lavendars and blues – colours more commonly seen in spring/summer collections.  Perhaps the dress that stood out the most was close to the end – a blue dress that was short in the front and longer in the back that had not only had a “swooshy” feel, but also like ripples in water.  Also interesting to note were the shoes – many of the models were wearing lime green sandals!
