When I was a kid I always played with makeup – whether it was on myself or on my Barbies. I always loved getting all dolled up but I didn’t really care if I had anywhere to go! I would just sit in my room and experiment – I probably even missed out on some teenage rights of passage since I would rather be home playing with makeup!
Although I’m quite familiar with make up I’m definitely not an expert. I think most women know the basics, lipstick and mascara but most of us there probably don’t know how to properly apply makeup or how to make the most of it by playing up our features.

But where do you go to learn all these techniques?
- Make up counters at Shoppers Drug Mart, Sephora or Department stores are good, but often the sales assistant is trying to sell you the products and will show you really basic applications.
- You could book with a professional make up artist – this is a really great opportunity to learn and ask questions but it can be expensive.
Well if you’re in the Toronto area you are in luck. The Toronto location of the Blush Pretty / Fresh Beautiful studios located at 313 Queen St. West, Suite 204, Toronto (on the corner of Queen and John) is offering beauty workshops in an intimate setting (only 6 per class!) which is ideal for learning. And even better, the class prices begin at $21.50 (+ HST).
