A girl can never have too much black (or lip gloss), in my opinion. And that has definitely been the case, historically speaking, when you take a peek into my closet. Though over the past year or so, I’ve been adding more colour, many of my favourites, especially in cooler months, have been black. On the other hand, I don’t have too many white pieces, save for a couple of button down shirts, a LWD (Little White Dress) and of course, my wedding gown. However, this doesn’t mean that I don’t have any and can’t put a few pieces together for IFB‘s latest challenge, Blogger’s Black and White Ball. In fact, I have posted some black and white outfits in the past, in other affiliated blogs, such as the look below from the DelectablyChic! Closet, a site I no longer update:
- Top: Jacob
- Skirt: Femme de Carriere
- Shoes: Christian Louboutin Prorata
- Glasses: Pucci
- Belt: BCBG (from came with another dress)
The second outfit was originally posted for the 18th Petite Fashion Challenge, a “fashion challenge” I used to participate in with several other petite bloggers. They were a fun thing to shoot, but there hasn’t been a new challenge in nearly a year. Both the top and the cropped pants were from White House | Black Market.
- Top: Palm Leaf Print Blouse (old)
- Pants: Seasonless Cropped Pant (old)
- Shoes: Christian Louboutin Prorata
- Bag: Leather Colorblock City Willis
The third outfit combo is newer and never published on any of my sites before. It’s a recent purchase from Nicole Miller Artilier. It isn’t EXACTLY black and white – the stripes are more of a greyish/dirty white tone – and the lighting makes the dress look a bit “off black.” I was a bit hesitant in purchasing it at first, not because of the price (not too bad in the mid $200s), but because horizontal stripes are a bit of a hit and miss for me. As a shorter girl, I can look wide very easily, even though I mostly take a size zero.
- Dress: Dakota from Nicole Miller Artilier
- Shoes: Stuart Weitzman
I had been looking at another outfit at the store when I eyed the dress. The sales person, sensing that I might be interested, encouraged me to try it on. The piece that I had originally wanted to purchase turned out to look awful on me, while this dress looked great. And alterations aren’t even needed – the length is just fine with heels.
