Welcome to our first blogger profile! DelectablyChic! will, on a regular basis, be profiling style and food bloggers from not just in the Toronto area, but around the country and the world. First up is Toronto-based Twitterer and blogger, @foodieyu, whose website is Food Junkie Chronicles
Why did you start your site?
I was constantly uploading pictures of food on Facebook and after awhile, my friends suggested that I start a food blog instead (maybe they were tired of me bombarding their timeline with food pictures). And that’s really how my blog started!
How long have you been blogging?
Since April 2010.
What kind of impact do you think bloggers have made in restaurant reviews/cooking/dining in general, if at all?
I think bloggers have a positive impact because sharing is caring. Sharing restaurant and dining experiences as well as recipes give readers more insight into what’s out there in the world of food!
What’s your definition of a “foodie”? Do you consider yourself to be one?
My definition of a “foodie” is a person who loves food and is passionate about it. A foodie’s eyes would literally light up when anything related to food comes up in a conversation. I am definitely a foodie; my Twitter handle is @foodieyu after all!
Favourite type of cuisine?
I do not have one favourite type of cuisine but I do enjoy Japanese, Chinese, and Italian. And I love burgers!
Restaurant?
I do not have one favourite restaurant in Toronto but I do enjoy Guu, Woodlot, Pizzeria Libretto, The Black Hoof, and Yuzu (in no particular order).
Do you make that kind of cuisine or do you prefer to go to restaurants?
I do not make Japanese food at home and I occasionally cook Chinese and Italian. It should be evident from my blog that I love going out to eat way too much!
Do you take pictures of food with a camera-camera or your phone? Do people think it’s weird?
I take pictures with both my iPhone 4 and DSLR. Most of my friends don’t think it’s weird anymore since they expect that I will be taking pictures for my blog (they also know they can’t start eating until I take a picture of their dish). I think it’s becoming more and more common nowadays for people, not just food bloggers, to take pictures of food just for fun and share with their friends and family.
