Carolina Herrera’s Timeless Sophistication

Carolina Herrera never stops pleasing the more sophisticated crowd.  Her Spring/Summer 2013 collection, which has, according to a Tweet just prior to the show, “timeless influence,” definitely lived up to that.  With gorgeous, colourful prints as well as neutrals, these looks are bound to look great at next season’s weddings, summer fundraisers and other social events.  Skirt lengths are decidedly long, for the most part, but not in a way that would necessarily look bad on a shorter person.  The detailing and patterning for the upcoming season are absolutely gorgeous and a favourite from the collection is a print shift dress seen at 0:48 of the video below (don’t you just love the pewter and orange/gold combination?).

Carolina Herrera is definitely not for the “hip” crowd and therefore, a collection that I always look forward to seeing.  And unlike many other designers, most of the pieces are wearable on their own and without the funkiness that many fashionistas seem to like.  Sure, the looks aren’t “original,” but being original and avant-garde is not something that IS Carolina Herrera.  This collection is definitely on my fantasy list.
