Celebrating FNO at AIME, Holt Renfrew, Hazelton Lanes and More

Canadian designer Monica Mei opened her AIME boutique and showroom for the first time last night.  Part of Toronto’s first Fashion’s Night Out (FNO), people not only got to see the latest AIME collection, but also nibble on appetizers from Elizabeth Hill Catering and listen to music spun by Tunesy.

The interior of Monica’s new space, located in the Av/Dav area, is cozy at about 800 square feet. Two pieces were on display at the showroom, one loose blazer and another long cardigan-jacket.  The pieces are technically “seasonless” though they lean more towards fall because of their tweed sleeves.  Two dresses, which were seen on models at the party, were available for attendees to pre-order.

Of course, AIME was not the only store in Yorkville participating.  Just a short walk away at Hazelton Lanes, was the Shopping Soiree.  Hosted by the Toronto Fashion Incubator, The New Trend and Fashion Cares, the event featured apparel and accessories by a variety of different Canadian designers.  Canada’s online flash sale site, Peacock Parade and Mastercard Canada hosted the StyliCity Lounge, featuring nibblies and cocktails, makeovers as well as pieces from The Peacock Parade’s FNO sale.  Other participating stores included Intermix, H&M and Cole Haan.  There were also stores not participating that stayed open late.

The biggest party of all was probably held at Holt Renfrew, which is celebrating its 175th Anniversary this year.  A portion of Bloor Street was closed for a massive street party and congratulatory messages from various designers and fashion-related personalities were screened outside of the store.  In addition, Holt Renfrew is carrying 175 anniversary-related products including beauty products from lines like Bobbi Brown and Deborah Lipman as well as teddy bears, shoes, bags and more.  There was also a pop-up shop outside of the store selling sweatshirts by graphic artists like Joachim Baan, Justin Broadbent and Jonathan Mak Long. The pop-up shop will be travelling across Canada with stops across the country.
