Classics, Colours and Metallics for Triarchy!

Mercedes-Benz Start-Up finalist, Triarchy Brand showed their first collection at the Studio.  This BC-based denim line opened the show with three models, two guys and a girl putting on a jeans from a pile of denim at the back of the runway – a little confusing at first.  This was followed by the rest of the collection, consisting of a variety of different cuts and washes.  I was glad to see the lack of wide flares in the women’s collection, as Triarchy currently does not offer a petite line. This makes alterations just a bit easier.

Women’s coloured jeans continue to be part of the fall/winter wardrobe with yellow, deep purple, green and red seen in this collection (guy’s denim stayed within the conservative blues and blacks).  The darker shades work very well for those who are still a little iffy about coloured denim.  Most interesting of all were the two pairs of shiny metallic skinnies worn by a model as well as one Ania Taubenfigel, one of the designers of the line.  Before seeing this show, I would probably have told you that they were a big no-no, but I have to admit that I’ve been converted.  Both shades would be great paired with any solid sweater – especially a heavy cowl neck – and boots.  I am still not sure if I’d recommend metallic denim that isn’t skinny, however.  That will need a little more convincing.
