One thing we’re noticing on the runways at various Fashion Weeks are clutches. These small bags, which, according to Montreal-based blogger known as “Miss Sly”, is “perfect to store the necessary, and the ideal accessory” are a classic. Comments from others ranged from clutches being “glamorous” to being a great accessory for a night out in town. Of course, like many things, clutches aren’t always perfect. For one, they are smaller, you really have to think about what you take with you.
The ideal clutch is a plain, classic looking piece that is neutral in colour. If you only want one, then this is the kind to get. Coach, Stuart Weitzman, Michael Kors and pretty much every brand would have something for you. Then there are the more novelty ones. A favourite of mine (speaking of novels) are Kate Spade’s book clutches – bag versions of books like Emma, The Great Gatsby and Great Expectations. Kate Spade also has a newspaper clutch, which looks like a rolled-up paper.
What I like about clutches:
- Small, yet big enough to hold your phone, keys and lipstick
- Limits all the unnecessary things that I carry around in a larger purse
- Doesn’t overwhelm a smaller frame
- The right one can be sophisticated for dressy, work and casual
- Can be used as a wallet!
What do you think of clutches? If you were looking for a bag today, would you get one yourself?
