Webitor’s Picks: Coach’s Chelsea Collection and the Small Leather Bag

Coach‘s transitional/fall collection is slowly making its appearance in the boutiques and online, despite the very hot weather outside.  I recently received an email from them introducing me to Chelsea, one of their latest collections.  This was also the featured collection on their website when they launched a few weeks ago.

Chelsea has a very classic look and gorgeous colours as well.  A favourite shade of mine is “curry,” a delicious colour that looks orangey-brown or pinkish, depending on the light and available in a few of their bags, including the leather dowel flap and the leather small bag – my pick this week.  Prices range from $278 (leather small bag) to the $798 (leather dowel flap and flagship leather tote).  The two pricier bags are actually on the heavy side, and if you’re a small person like me, probably not the best choice.  If you’re interested in the colour, I highly suggest the leather small bag, which is what I recently purchased.  The bag measures 9 3/4″ (L) 6 3/4″ (H) x 3″ (W) and fits all of your “essentials” (phone, keys, wallet and lipstick).  It has an inside pocket as well as compartments for your phone outside.  I think it has a little bit of a vintage look (I can’t wait to use it with Banana Republic’s Mad Men collection), goes amazingly well with both lighter coloured pieces (especially cream) as well as black, and can be used for the weekend (amazing with jeans!), work and even evenings out.

If the “curry” shade is not your thing, the bag also comes in a lighter silver/gold combo.  While it might look more summery, the colour actually isn’t bad with the upcoming fall season.  I have been noticing a lot of deep greens/blues in the pre-fall/early fall pieces – colours that would work beautifully with the bag.  While this week’s Webitor’s Pick is more of a fall bag in terms of colour, the Chelsea collection also has bags that are more summery.  The leather flap ($298), for example, comes in a lime green, pink (“ginger root”) and white (“parchment”) as well as black.  The Ashlyn hobo is also available in parchment.  However, I think the Small Leather Bag is more of a classic, in terms of shape and colour.
