An event promoting a new product, ColdSore-FX, brought to you by the people of Cold-FX was held at the C5 Lounge at the ROM on Tuesday, April 19. The event, which featured amazing appetizers from the restaurant as well as a brief discussion of the product by representative Michael McDougall as well as make-up tips for cold sores by celebrity make-up artist, Paul Venoit.
It was definitely a mingling event. Prior to the presentation, guests got to network all the while munching on delectable hors d’oeuvres such as mini burgers with blueberry ketchup or mushrooms and cheese on flatbreads. While Michael and Paul both got to speak, it was rather brief. Michael talked about the ColdSore-FX product (which like Cold-FX, is made with natural ingredients) itself as well as its benefits, which according to him, works even after symptoms begin to develop. In addition, ColdSore-FX cuts down the healing process by four days (from 10 to six). The product is applied on the lips and works even with other products are put on top of it. In other words, wearing lipstick wouldn’t affect the healing process. After the brief talk by Michael, Paul gave the audience (predominantly of Toronto-area bloggers and other online media) some make-up tips for when cold sores occur. The tips were not unfamiliar to most women – Paul mentioned that it was important to play up other areas to draw attention away from the cold sore (definitely avoid red or bright pink lipstick) and that covering the spot could actually make it look worse. Perhaps they were pressed for time, because all three models used in the demonstration already had their make-up done (another point of criticism I had was that the models were actual fashion/runway models – tall and slim. For a make-up demonstration, that look was completely unnecessary). It would have been nice if it had been an actual demonstration with Paul putting make-up on at least one of them.
Mingling and networking continued after the presentation. At that time, some delicious desserts were passed around, including mini pistachio squares. A make-up artist was also on hand to give guests touch-ups while Paul posed for pictures with many of the guests at the party. ColdSore-FX will be available to consumers later this year.
