Cake and desserts boutique, ps by pretty sweet opened on February 7 in the King and Niagara area by long time dessert queen, Adjoa Duncan, selling delicious cookies, brownies, cupcakes and more. In addition to running her shop, Adjoa will continue to create delicious custom desserts, including wedding and other celebration cakes as well sweets tables (consisting of a variety of different desserts) for events under her pretty sweet banner. I was lucky enough to visit her shop recently to speak with Adjoa on her new business as well as sample some of her delicious goodies.

Adjoa on her background:
I’ve been in the pastry business since the mid-90s, first working out of a friend’s home and then at a pastry shop in the Danforth area where I worked on wedding cakes. I’ve also spent time in the UK working in pastries and spent some time working at Splendido when I returned to the food industry after spending some time in the fashion business.
Delicious blondies from the bake shop
… on her the types of clients she gets:
There’s a mix of corporate and private and in both cases, many are repeats. The corporate clients often ask for cakes with company logos while private clients range from birthdays to engagements and weddings.
Display case
… on what makes ps by pretty sweet different:
Anything and everything can be customized. We create EXACTLY what the client wants.
Camera cake
… on her weirdest order(s):
Definitely…body parts cakes.

… on where she sees herself in future (20-25 years):
I’d love to grow the business and be that “little old lady” making cakes!
In addition to custom cakes, ps by pretty sweet also has a daily mix of brownies (and blondies), cookies, cupcakes and more, ready for pick-up as well as delicious teas from Tealish (tea is served on gorgeous china). The boutique is located at 848 King Street West, just west of Niagara.
