ECCO Shoes Fall 2013 Preview

Recently, I attended an event for ECCO shoes.  This Scandanavian, family-owned brand, known for their comfortable shoes and bags, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and launched a shoe, ECCO MIND, that is a combination of two of its historical styles (one from 1963, the year they launched and another from the 1970s) and a “new” style.  The result is a funky, colourful design that brings not only comfort, but a marriage of style from different periods.

Of course, the event was not just about limited edition collection, but a preview of the upcoming fall looks.  The women’s collection include myriad of boots of different heights and lengths as well as loafers, oxfords, flats and pumps, including some shoes with tassels.  The new “it” colour is called “pavement,” a greyish blue tone that is seen with several of the looks.  Sticking with the company’s philosophy of comfort, these shoes are by no means meant to be super-trendy – no super high and skinny heels here.  In fact, they’re best worn with either classic, office-appropriate pieces if you want something plain, or to tone down super-trendy pieces.  Favourites include an oxford, available in ECCO’s “it” colour, pavement, as well as a is a shorter boot (but taller than a “bootie”) that can be styled both “standard” or by showing off the interior trim.  This piece is more traditional in terms of colour, being offered in espresso and black.

The fall collection should start hitting stores starting in July.
