Elle Canada and Creating Scents at Intermix Toronto

Elle Canada held a spring style and shopping event at Intermix in Yorkville Thursday evening.  Though no one from the magazine actually spoke about trends, many of the pieces were tagged as looks recommended by editor-in-chief, Noreen Flanagan as an “Editor’s Choice.”  I didn’t agree with some of her picks, however, as they looked like they’d either not work well on most body types, a bit plain or just wasn’t practical.  There was definitely a lot of orange.  The good thing, however, was a discount was given to shoppers who purchased items over a set amount.

Delicious mini Key Lime pies

One of the most interesting parts of the event was the scent bar from Aromachology where we were able to create small, keychain sized bottles of scents by choosing one of five base scents and adding a “top note.”  There were also delicious, bite-sized desserts such as mini Key Lime pies and brownies courtesy of Food Dudes and a DJ spun some great music for the shoppers – it wasn’t loud to the point that people couldn’t hear each other talk.

Though I had a great time and did end up making a purchase, it would have been a lot more fun had been there been a stylist available to speak about and present looks, and perhaps even open up to a Q&A.  Oh, and some non-sweet treats would have been great too.
