Elle Canada’s Fashioniesta: Cars, Food, Shopping and Beauty!

Last week, I had went to Elle Canada’s style/meet-and-greet designers event at the Fermenting Cellar at Toronto’s Distillery District.  The event, called FashionIESTA (the event was a partnership with the 2014 Ford Fiesta) featured a bit of shopping, as well as a panel where Elle Canada’s editor-in-chief featuring some of Canada’s most well-known designers – Lucian Matis, Martin Lim, Ron White and Shay Lowe.  Attendees not only had the opportunity to hear about fall style from these designers, but also shop items from the designers and get their make-up done with Maybelline.

There was also a photo booth where attendees can get a fake Elle cover and of course, food.  It was interesting what was served – the usual appetizers as well as a station where people can create their own chicken or beef (mini) sliders and poutine.  I hesitate to call it a poutine BAR, since there were no choices for toppings – it was plain poutine, unless you want to put sauces (grain mustard, chutney and other choices) on your fries.  There were no toppings for the sliders.  The dessert bar, however, had more interesting choices, including cake pops and various mini squares.

The event was fun, with a huge turnout.  Some of the designers took advantage of the large space, utilizing not only a standard booth, but the cars as well.  Ron White, for example, placed several of his boots in the trunk (or the boot of the car, as they say in some parts of the world)!  Of course, sizing was limited – mostly smalls and size 7s – so if you wanted to take an item home that night, you couldn’t be out of range.

Looking forward to the next event, Elle Canada!
