This year’s Frocktail Party, the annual dress auction social in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, was held at the Arcadian Lofts at the Bay Queen Street, a move from the Burroughes Building location, where the event was held for the past two years. The change in location not only gave the event a bit more sophistication, but actually made mingling a little easier – last year, the event was so packed that it was difficult to check out auction items and place bids, especially on more popular items, without bumping into too many people.

Featuring dresses donated by designers such as David Dixon, Greta Constantine and Lovas and donations from stores ranging from eLUXE to the Peacock Parade, Andrew’s and Holt Renfrew, this event was, like in previous years a mix and mingle and unlike many other fundraising events, had a start time of 7 PM rather than 8 or 9, making it perfect for those who come directly from work.  DelectablyChic!‘s favourites this year include green Greta dress (which is seen in the slider images) and a black, printed Mandalay dress.  Size ranges were similar to previous years, with pieces mostly in the “average” ranges of small, medium and large.  In addition to dresses, there were also accessories and menswear up for grabs.  And like many other events in the city, there were beauty stations, including mini manicures courtesy of OPI polishes.

With the event at the Arcadian Lofts, attendees were treated to delicious passed hors d’oeuvres from Oliver and Bonacini, which caters all events held at the venue.  The wonderful nibblies included smoked salmon in scones as well as vegetables wrapped in rice paper and chicken sliders.  Purdy’s was also there with their sugar-free chocolates.  These appetizers, however, disappeared all too quickly!
