I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed by Carolina Herrera. The looks are always gorgeous, with season-appropriate colours, and is always lady-like and grown-up. And this continues for the Fall/Winter 2013 season. Shiny, sparkly embellished, many made with silk, abound in this collection, but unlike other designers, the pieces manage to stay within Ms. Herrera’s credo of maturity. Colours in this collection include golds and silvers, as well as greens and cranberries – all perfect for colder climate. In addition, while many think of floral patterns as being more spring or summer-like, the ones seen in this collection do not distract from the fact that it is for fall.

As a more “mature” collection, the pieces definitely suit many more body types – typical of Ms. Herrera. I have found that most older-school designers – designers who have been in the business for many years – are better at fitting diversity. They go for a “pretty” look rather than “trend.”

The Fall/Winter 2013 collection has plenty of gorgeous dresses, all great for fall charity galas and weddings. The finale piece, a deep green dress with a drop back with fur trim, was definitely a favourite, as is a gold trench dress with a black fur collar. However, despite a mostly gorgeous collection, there were some dresses that looked a little bit odd. The one that caught me the most was a dress with furry hem and I’m not sure if it’s something that most people would consider.
