The Greta Constantine Fall/Winter 2012-2013 collection opened with a splash of colour – models in dresses in bright greens, blues, oranges and more strutted down the long L-shaped runway at the Arcadian Loft  s before things went a little more goth with a high concentration of blacks (and a little bit of white).

Though the brightly coloured pieces were definitely very wearable by most women, many of the black pieces were closer to works of art than clothes that you or I would purchase and wear to brunch or dinner.  There were also pieces that had cinched waists, so ladies, get those shapewear pieces out to smooth the tummies!  Some of the looks, however, were definitely not made for shorter women, including a green dress (above, left) that looked very bulky in the hip area.  If it didn’t look that great on an almost 6′ model, it will definitely not work on someone 5′ tall, even if she weighed 90 lb or less.  Luckily, there weren’t too many of these – especially if the thicker belts used in the show were replaced with something more proportionate to someone smaller.  Some pieces that work well on most women include the wrap dresses, sheath/pencil dresses and longer gowns.

One thing that did bother me (though I’m sure other fashion bloggers would disagree) about the show was the make-up.  Every single model model had their eyes lined with very thick liner in an exaggerated manner.  While it worked for some of the looks, especially those that were a bit more geometric, it certainly did not for the simpler looks.  In fact, it was a bit distracting.  Fashion shows are for the clothes, not the crazy make-up.
