Held last Wednesday, first with a preview dinner at Parts and Labour, followed by a more media-oriented event at the Hoxton, Toronto favourite, Greta Constantine, presented the Fall/Winter 2013 collection. The upcoming looks, which feature designing duo, Stephen Wong and Kirk Pickersgill’s signature architectural works of art and more “standard” pieces with not only the standard winter dark shades, but also bright shades, including a gorgeous lemon-lime, a colour more typically seen in warmer months, a DelectablyChic! favourite. Another favourite is a bright orange peplum dress. Though it is a couple of inches above the knee on the model, it would likely be knee length who is on the petite side, and fairly office-appropriate.
A selection of pieces from the Fall/Winter 2013 collection
Perhaps the most interesting piece was a chocolate brown vest that more resembled art than clothing. Paired with an all-white outfit (including wide-legged trousers), the ensemble, especially the vest, is definitely styled for presentation and not regular wear. In fact, it would likely look extremely overwhelming on petite and small-framed (i.e. “Hollywood sized”) body types and just plain odd on someone who is on the bigger side. Of course, not all fashion is meant to be for “regular” wear, so one or two pieces in a collection is perfectly fine.
In addition on the history of Greta Constantine, called Then and Now as also seen by attendees. This is a short documentary chronicling the line’s history and rise to prominence, including the recent Paris showing of the very collection that was being presented that evening.
What do you think of these looks? Any likes/dislikes?
