Ye, that’s right, plus sizes are back at everyone’s favourite fast fashion store, H&M. Called Inclusive, the line features both regular sized clothing and plus. According to most reports, it ranges from “size 32-54″ which translates to size 2 to 24 in North America. The style is described as ” figure-flattering party dresses in 50’s styles with large polka dots and rose patterns” and also includes cardigans, skirts, tops and lingerie. The colours are also very spring-like. However, there are two catches to this. The first is that it is, like their designer collaborations, a limited edition and the second is that it is only going to be available online starting in March. This means that countries without an e-commerce site such as Canada and the United States, will not be able to purchase the line.

Despite the limited edition and the fact that they’re only offering Inclusive online, H&M should be congratulated for opening up to a wider range of sizes. And for a change, the clothes actually look attractive, unlike many specialty size lines – plus OR petite – who seem to think that only women of a certain age purchase from them. And if Inclusive succeeds online in Europe (and it will!), perhaps they’ll start offering the next edition in brick and mortar stores across the world. Of course, it might very well only be a dream. Specialty sizes, whether petite or plus, tend to be ignored by the fashion industry (whether “fast” or “exclusive”), often claiming that it “isn’t fashion.” Hopefully this will change, but it’ll likely take time.
