This is the time of year when people scramble to come up with original, and hopefully useful, gifts for friends and family. Here are some that may appeal to the globe-trotters on your list.
1. HEYS CARRY-ON
Many airlines are charging for checked luggage now. If you have a relatively short trip (or you know how to pack smart), try beating the system by carrying everything on board. I love HEYS carry-on luggage. It’s so lightweight, yet virtually indestructible.
2. HERSCHEL SUPPLY CO. BACKPACK
This is a multi-purpose backpack made by a Vancouver-based company. It can be used for overnight trips, as a school or gym bag and it includes a padded insert to protect your computer tablet or laptop.
3. ROSEBUD SALVE
The main use of this product for me is as a lip balm, but when I travel it also comes in handy for dry hands, elbows and feet. It has a very delicate scent, it’s small in size, and it’s not considered a liquid (bonus feature as far as travel restrictions go).
4. BROOKSTONE INFLATABLE TRAVEL PILLOW
If you’re traveling on three-plus hour flights, the last thing you want is to fall asleep and wake up with a neck cramp. A travel pillow helps avoid this. The fact that this one inflates means it won’t take up precious space in your luggage when not in use.
5. WILFRED DIDEROT CARDIGAN
This lengthy, cocoon-like cardigan sweater made with brushed cotton may mean you won’t have to use one of those (dodgy) airplane blankets. It also functions well while you’re on your trip – you can wear it upside down for a bolero-look
