Unique Table Pieces at Summerhill’s Hopson Grace

If you’re looking for something to spruce up your dining room, kitchen or even outdoor dinnerware or serveware, look no further than Hopson Grace.  Founded by Andrea Hopson (ex-Tiffany’s exec) and Martha Grace McKimm, a former Toronto-area PR executive, this store has taken up shop at the old Patachou cafe.

Entering the store, clients are greeted by a variety of different settings, ranging from bright colours to wood and white, which range from very affordable (at under $10) to investment pieces in the four figure from almost all corners of the world.  The store is great for those looking for the “hi-lo” mix. Some stand-out pieces which I observed at my visit included gorgeous children’s dining pieces which looked like they were directly from a Beatrix Potter book by Litolff, an artisan brand from Germany as well as coasters from Thornback and Peel.  These “critter coasters” as I call them, are, according to the information next to the display, “an eclectic mixture of Victorian, Mrs. Beeton’s Household Management, Mr. McGregor’s garden (yes, as in (once again) Beatrix Potter), as well as shatter-proof outdoor place settings and stemware which look “real.”  These are PERFECT for the cottage!  Other pieces which sparked interest include steak knives made from stag antlers (stag antlers are shed yearly), a cheese knife set from Bernard (one of the knives has wholes, which makes for easier slicing and serving) as well as very unique pieces such as golf ball bottle stoppers.

In addition to dining-related pieces, Hopson Grace also has an event space on the second level which can hold up to 40-50 for a sit down meal and about 70 for cocktails.  Hopson Grace is hoping to offer cooking and etiquette classes in that space as well.  And in case any engaged couples were wondering, yes, there is a registry.

Hopson Grace is located at 1120 Yonge Street.  Hours are Monday to Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM and noon to 5 PM on Sunday.
