IdeaCity Celebrates its 15th!

Moses Znaimer’s Ideacity is an extraordinary conference.  Not only does it have 50 exciting and insightful speakers from a variety of fields, but the speakers themselves become quite engaged in the 3 day event.  In fact, many past speakers return to attend the conference annually.

“I was a speaker in 2010 and my husband and I decided to come back this year and attend,” stated Texan resident Dr. Cindy Meston, who spoke four years ago on “why women have sex.”  “We attended each and every session.”  Even fun-loving Canadian songstress Liona Boyd has become a familiar staple in the crowd and joined guitarist virtuoso Pavlo on stage for a dance during his performance.

In its 15th year, this time around the theme was “gold” with the philosophy that “everything changes over time, but gold never loses its lustre.”  Key speakers included Buzz Aldrin (pre-recorded video), his son Andy Aldrin (newly appointed President of the Moon Express), Canadian comedian in China Dashan, photojournalist Rick Smolan, “Princess of Pot” Jodie Emery, reverse aging specialist Michael Fossel, organ preservation start-up CEO Tanya Jones, raw vegan marathan runners Janette Wakelin-Murray and Alan Murray, climate cynic Lord Christopher Monckton, and human helicopter creators Todd Reichert and Cameron Robertson.

Some unforgettable moments included Canadian member of Parliament Irwin Cotler recounting the Canadian support for the end of apartheid in South Africa, laughologist Albert Nerenberg hypnotizing audience members live, and researcher Andrew Hessel in his speech on 3D printed cancer medicines remarking that 3D printed uteruses will likely in the future enable children to be born without mothers!  And of course, there were plenty of after parties at venues such as Spice Route, C-Lounge and the Zoomerplex.
