In My Easter Bonnet, With All the Frills Upon It….

OK, so no Easter Bonnet.  I don’t even wear hats very much (other than wool ones you wear in the winter), but for Easter, my husband and I decided to head over to a local hotel for a delicious buffet brunch.  It wasn’t a fancy place – just a regular, run-of-the-mill hotel chain about a 15 minute walk away.  We didn’t want to go all out, just something fun and relaxing.  I dressed up anyway and wore the Lillian dress in Garden Shade Floral (on sale for $89.99 US ($104.99 CDN)- not many sizes left) and paired it with my very walkable Barclay cap toe pumps (size 22/4.5),  my lavender J.Crew cardigan and my new Coach shoulder bag.

Dress: J.Crew Lillian dress in Garden Shade Floral, size 00
Cardigan: J.Crew Jackie cardigan (from Summer 2011 collection), size XXS
Shoes: Barclay cap toe pumps, size 22/4.5
Bag: Coach Classic Leather Shoulder Purse in lime

I had wanted to buy the dress for a long time (loved the print), but because it wasn’t offered in petite sizes, I was a little hesitant.  I then saw it on Phi Phi, another petite blogger, and changed my mind.  The dress mostly passes the “hug test” (meaning that I can wrap my arms around myself without it tugging), but I think it could do a bit of taking in under the arms.  I may consider a bit of hemming as well, but I think it’s okay to wear with heels.  I also like how it isn’t too dressy – appropriate for a casual brunch, the office, or even a nicer dinner.  I’m not sure that I’d wear it to a wedding reception unless it was earlier in the day (though you can convince me otherwise).

What do you think of this dress?
