J.Crew Changes Canadian Prices After Outcry

Due to public outcry, J.Crew is now absorbing all charges on duty for Canadian orders made on their site, according to  The Globe and Mail.  The changes started this morning.  This means that the base price listed on the website will be the price that Canadian shoppers pay online, excluding sales tax.  J.Crew also plans to keep the $9.95 flat shipping rate.

While the company has decided to drop the extra duty charge (which makes no sense to begin with), Canadian prices will remain about 15-20% higher than prices in the United States.  This is standard and I accept that.  What I wasn’t able to accept was the duty charged on top of increased prices where duty was implied.  I am glad that J.Crew has decided to correct this and yes, I will continue to shop there.  Thanks for doing this, J.Crew!

What do you think of J.Crew’s change of heart?  Will this change your mind about shopping at J.Crew?
