Justin Trudeau, His Looks and the Media

Yes, he’s a hottie, but yesterday, many publications, especially those catering to women, emphasized on Justin Trudeau’s appearance.  Why?  Why aren’t we focusing on his policies and what he and his government plan for the country (and how it could impact internationally)?  He might be a family legacy, and has a so-called “perfect” family, but this man is a politician first.  He isn’t some good-looking actor who made his name known doing rom-coms or worse, “bro flicks” that somehow catch the attention of heterosexual women.

I think it’s the WAY media focus on his looks that bother me.  It’s not a “he’s handsome and his family is adorable” in a Camelot kind of way, but more on how tweens become obsessed with boy bands (think middle school girls with lockers (and probably at least one wall in her bedroom) plastered with pictures of whomever is the “it” boy of the moment.  Most of us have gone through this).  It’s…immature.  And imagine how angry everyone would be if Justin were a JustinE.  It might have been a so-called “slow news day” internationally, but to focus on one’s looks – especially when one is the leader of a country, JUST SEEMS WRONG.
