I have been in love with this Ann Taylor skirt since I first saw it at a fall preview a few months back. It’s got the feline print (so much so that this week’s IFB project is feline-related), or, more specifically, the leopard print that seems to be EVERYWHERE this season, but is subtle enough not to give off a MILF vibe – in fact, you barely notice the print unless you’re very close up. In addition, the flouncy shape is a great alternative to the pencil skirt – I have to admit that I have one too many of those.
I finally made the purchase about two weeks ago, when the skirt finally landed in stores. This skirt is a great basic piece that would be a great addition not only to a work wardrobe when paired with a blouse and heels, but also for the weekend. Just match it up with a cool leather or denim jacket and amazing boots and you’re set to go out with your friends.
The length is great – it isn’t so short that it doesn’t look work-appropriate and not in that awkward, in-between length either. The skirt is available in both regular and petite sizes, so those of you who are short like me won’t have to worry about alterations – a skirt like this is next to impossible to shorten without changing proportions. I have to admit, though, that I was worried that this skirt wouldn’t come in petite sizes (my rule: always buy petite unless it isn’t available). I have a feeling that this skirt is going to get a fair bit of wear this season, both for casual and dressier occasions.
