LG Fashion Week Day 4 Highlights

Many of the shows today are held in the more intimate studio space, including Sarah Stevenson, Golnaz Ashtinai/Caitlin Power as well as Krane.  I like the Studio this season.  It’s light, bright and gives spectators/audience members a closer look at the pieces.

Sarah Stevenson: A very spring-like installation based on right in one’s own backyard, which inspired the designer when she began looking for ideas for the collection last spring.  Models stood on platforms, in threes, next to easels, which named the pattern, referenced the material their dresses were made from, as well as its creation process.  The collection is very pretty and whimsical, definitely a must-have next year.

ASHTIANI: Golnaz Ashtiani’s Spring/Summer 2012 season was inspired by (according to her press material) the 1950s and 1960s, specifically Roman Holiday, an Audrey Hepburn film about a princess who runs away from her duties while in Rome and falls in love as well as fashion and lifestyle publications of the 1960s.  With a very European feel, one can just see someone wear these pieces at a cafe, shopping or perhaps riding that scooter (the only thing missing from the show).

Caitlin Power: This is Caitlin’s first show at LG Fashion Week.  Unlike ASHTIANI, who shares her timeslot, this show had more of a harder, modern twist.  Leathers, chiffons as well as suits were seen in the collection, giving wearers a wide range of choice of to mix and match and create their own creations.
