LG Fashion Week Highlights: Day 5

Wow, it’s  been an absolutely crazy week and I can’t believe that the Spring/Summer shows are now coming to an end.  Today, the last day of LG Fashion Week, shows include Adrian Wu,l as Anu Raina, Micalla, Baby Steinberg as well as Judith & Charles (marking their first time at LG Fashion Week).

Adrian Wu: At only 21 years old, this young man’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection, called “Creatures of Photons.” Consisting of 15 pieces, the collection was inspired by Quantum Physics, or more specfically, the double slit theory. Simple cocktail dresses with detachable parts – poofy ones – were presented by models wearing skyscraper platforms and headpieces – some of these looks could work for a very avant-garde bride.  I was, at first disappointed with the dresses as I thought they were too art-like for a studio presentation.  However, this changed upon learning that the parts were detachable, making it more appropriate for people who are not 6′ and under a size 2.  Rather than a soundtrack, a live quartet played music on the centre of the runway.  Adrian is definitely one to watch.  Perhaps we’re going to see a full runway soon?

Anu Raina: Gorgeous white dresses and tops that look hand-painted in many different colours as well as long pants.  Several different lengths of dresses were presented, ranging from pieces that were as short as tunics to long, flowing dresses.  One piece of criticism:  Peter Pan collars – sorry, but these are common in some elementary school uniforms (especially in the US), and not a good look for adults  – especially those of us who’re smaller.  Keep grown-up clothes grown up!

Micalla: Gorgeous pieces of jewellery made with Swarovski crystals.  With many different colours, these could definitely turn any plain, little black or little white dress into the TALK of the evening.  Brides-to-be should definitely take a look at these pieces as many would complete your wedding gown.  However, many of these pieces are quite large and bulky – a little bit overwhelming if you are very petite.
