DelectablyChic!’s Six Picks from Banana Republic’s Mad Men Collection

Banana Republic’s collaboration collection with Mad Men costume designer, Janie Bryant debuted in stores and online today.  There are 65 pieces in total, for both men and women and range from dresses to suits as well as accessories.  Below are six of our favourite women’s pieces:

Tie Neck Shirt in Dried Berry ($95 CDN; $89.50 US) – also in navy

Spot Print Neck Scarf  ($50 CDN (not on Canadian site, but in stores); $39.50 US)

Cigarette Pants ($160 CDN; $128 US)

Lace Tipped Dress ($185 CDN; $150 US) – Also in grey

Pearl Brooch Necklace in Grey Pearl ($50 CDN; $39.50 US) – also available in pearn and pink pearl (US site only)

Houndshooth Dress ($185 CDN; $150 US – petites available on the US site)

Out of the six, I would have to say that my absolute personal favourite are the cigarette pants, which were often seen on Betty Draper on the show.  Another favourite is the short scarf, which would look absolutely AMAZING paired with either of the above dresses or just tied on a bag.

I think Banana Republic and Janie Bryant did an excellent job coming up with this collection.  My only criticisms are that there should have been MORE pieces and the fact that the petite selection on the Canadian site was limited to two dresses.  I know that some bloggers have been saying that the collection is “too boring,” but really, just about anything can be “spiced up.”  If you think something’s boring, why not pair it with some accessories?

Do you like any of the pieces?  Which ones?  Are there pieces that should have been on the list?
