It’s finally here! I actually thought the line debuted a day earlier, but arrived at a store finding that a shelf was blocked off. Then I checked the website, and found out the launch date was August 9. Anyway, on August 9, I walked into Sephora and there they were. An area full of beauty products ranging from concealers, lip glosses, eye shadows and more. I spent some time playing with the products and ultimately chose the Remedy Concealer Pen ($47 CDN, available in store and online), a sleek-looking piece that releases product by clicking the silver button.

There are two types of Remedy Concealer Pens. One is a more “universal,” for brightening and correcting (comes in two shades, one for yellow undertones and another for pink) while the other is a more “traditional” concealer with a variety of shades. In either case, the concealer can be worn alone for a more lightweight look or with a more “made-up” face. The pens are great – lightweight, without being too watery. The universal pens blend in very well, so one doesn’t need to search for the “perfect” shade. You only need to know whether you have golden/yellow (shade 00, aka “Stand Corrected) or pink undertones (shade 0 or “Bright Idea). They’re also great if you are looking just for some brightening and correction (and more like a BB or CC Cream of concealers) rather than a bit more coverage and ideal for that low make-up day when your face doesn’t have anything else other than sunscreen, lip gloss and mascara (and perhaps a bit of primer). The more “standard” concealer pens are available in seven colours, all with partying/clubbing-related names such as “Past Curfew,” “Up all Night” and “Last Call.”

I’ve only used it for a few days, and don’t really have any complaints yet. The price, at $47 is a bit high for a concealer (about $10 more than Givenchy) and on par with Dior’s cosmetics line. Application is easy, though perhaps slightly messier than similar products as there is no brush applicator and according to Sephora’s website, the “palladium applicator cools on contact to reduce puffiness and one click is all it takes for the perfect amount of product.” However, this can be messy, so another way to apply is to click and then use one’s fingers (in fact, it’s good to use the fingers to blend). It might not reduce puffiness as well, but there’ll be less mess.
Have you tried any Marc Jacobs Beauty products yet? What have been your thoughts?
