Marimekko: Banana Republic’s Next Designer Collaboration

It all started in 2012 with Trina Turk.  Last year, it was Milly, Issa and L’Wren Scott.  The first announced designer for 2014 is Marimekko.  According to the press release, Marimekko was first known to the North American public in the 1960s, when the pieces were worn by Jacqueline Kennedy during the 1960 Presidential Campaign.  Known for its “cheerful prints” and “whimsical patterns,” the collection will definitely be a welcome addition to one’s closet for the summer.  The almost 25 piece collection will include a black and white polka dot print in Banana Republic’s signature Hampton pant as well as tanks, shorts and a maxi dress.

While the piece that was sent to us from Banana Republic does look interesting, I am looking forward to seeing more looks before making any recommendations to readers.  Like Milly and Trina Turk, this collection is definitely one to wear for summer vacations at resorts.  I am wondering, though, why Banana is waiting for May to debut the collection, considering that “resort” looks are in stores now.  I am sure that some of these pieces would be great for those who are taking time off in March!  Oh well, if May is the debut, then May it is!  More information will be coming very soon!
