Marshalls Downtown Opens its Doors!

Shoppers take note!  US discount giant, Marshalls has opened its first downtown Toronto location.  Located in the heart of entertainment district on Richmond and John (right next to the Scotiabank Theatre complex), this new location has 29,000 square feet of retail space over two floors.  On street level, shoppers will find the shoe department as well as bags and some women’s pieces.  Women’s continues on the second floor, where men’s, youth and kids clothes and toys can be found as well.  The teen section, known a “The Cube” is also on the upper level.  And like other Marshalls stores, there is an amazing shoe department, with both designer and non-designer brands offered at discounted prices.  With the exception of the display shoe, all others are boxed, unlike Winners, where all shoes are displayed.

Store Exterior

DelectablyChic! attended a media preview this past Tuesday, a couple of days before its opening.  We can tell you that selection is definitely vast (hey, there are some 8,000 pairs of shoes).  However, like all other Marshalls/Winners stores, sizing can be an issue if one is “unique” – there isn’t much there for women who are smaller than a size 4 and almost nothing if one’s feet is smaller than 6 or larger than a 10.  However, this doesn’t mean one can’t find anything.  In any case, there’s always the bags section – one that is almost equally as big as shoes.

Designer bags!

More bags!

This Marshalls store is located on 126 John Street, housed in a heritage building that was once home to the Turnbull Elevator Manufacturing Company.  More downtown locations will follow in the coming months, including a location at the newly-built Aura Condominiums.
