Midtown Toronto Customized Jewellery at Studio1098

During Fashion Week, I had the pleasure of meeting Kathryn Dieroff and Tamara Kronis at the TFI Press and Buyers’ brunch and quickly arranged a meeting with them at their boutique and studio.  Located in Summerhill, Studio1098 (named for its address at 1098 Yonge Street) fits in very well with the small town, “neighbourhood” vibe very well.  The business is also fairly unique – many of the pieces are custom-created with clients right at the studio/boutique – clients come in with a budget and direction, and everything is taken from there.  In other words, anything is possible, and price can range anywhere between $68 to the low five figures, depending on the product.  Pieces have ranged from cufflinks and necklaces and other every day or formal pieces to engagement rings and wedding bands.  Currently, the best selling items include crochet pieces and penny cufflinks and pieces range from classics to trendier items, including colourful looks that reflect current “it” shades.

Of course, custom orders aren’t the only projects Studio1098 does.  There are also pieces that one can purchase, either by walking in or from their e-shop.  In both cases, there is quite a bit to choose from (necklaces, bracelets, cufflinks, earrings, etc…).  Price points for non-custom order items are affordable, mostly in the three figures for earrings (other items, especially ones made with diamonds will be higher).  Generally, if items can be shipped within two weeks, then it can be purchased online.  Studio 1098 ships internationally as well.

There is an excellent relationship between the founders and their clients, which range between teenagers looking for a gift for their significant others to retirees, with many repeat customers.  In fact, there are client-related events that are held off-site and of course, a mailing list.
