Milly by Michelle Spring/Summer 2013

Featuring models decked out with huge goggles as glasses (something that was also featured at the Michael Kors show earlier in the day), Milly by Michelle continued to dazzle the young, fashionable crowd with a collection of dresses (many of them body-hugging) and separates filled with colourful, warm weather-ready pieces.  The palette this season includes pinks, yellows and bright blues, as well as darker shades, including black, which is used as a background/contrast to the brighter shades.  There was plenty of shine, as well, especially in the form of a silvery pearl tone.

Perhaps the most interesting looking items are the shiny poncho (5:00 ish) and jacket (5:51 ish).  The pieces are semi-transparent, covering the piece underneath with just a little bit of blurry shine. Other looks of interest include the mullet dress (short in front, longer in the back) with its grey, yellow and black combination in front and black at the back, seen at around 6:35 of the video as well as the black lace cardigan at around 9:17.

Unlike many of the collections presented this week, cuts are, for the most pat, friendly to many smaller body types, not overwhelming them with material and event looks easy to alter.  Even the mullet dresses are at a length that can be pulled off regardless of height.  However, being small-frame or short-person friendly doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s going to look good on all body types, considering that the collection has many form-fitting pieces.
