Monique Lhuillier for Waterford Pieces Makes One Rethink Formal Settings

Known for her gorgeous wedding dresses, Monique Lhuillier has made an addition to her bridal resume.  Teaming up with Waterford, she has released a collection of gorgeous china and crystals.  Ms. Lhuillier made an apperance at an event held at William Ashley in Toronto’s Manulife Centre, attendees nibbled on mini cupcakes from Cake Opera and got to take a look at the pieces which include vases, bowls and of course, place settings.  There was also a casual fashion show featuring Ms. Lhuillier’s gowns, courtesy of Yorkville area bridal boutique, White.

Being the first woman to design for Waterford, Ms. Lhuiller’s collection definitely had a feminine touch – lots of pinks and florals (including one named after her famed Sunday Rose gown), for example.  There were, of course, also pieces that were a bit more traditional.  Ms. Lhuillier also discuss the Waterford collection itself, give some registry tips (always good to “over-register”) and also to answer a small handful of questions that attendees had.  Many of the guests were women who had just gotten engaged.

The china will definitely make some couples rethink whether to register formal settings.  Many people these days opt to only register for higher end, plain casual pieces instead – after all, how often do most young people entertain formally? Mixing and matching pieces is on trend, anyway.  And bone china is extremely durable and was created to use, not to display.  Even if one only opts for casual, the crystals would definitely enhance the table and home.
