More New Stores on Bloor?: D&G and Stuart Weitzman

I’m sure many of you know this already – Dolce and Gabbana is coming to Yorkville and taking over the old Louis Vuitton spot.  This is, according to Urban Toronto (and subsequently, Retail Insider), will be Canada’s first D&G standalone store and either the fifth or sixth worldwide.  Another rumour, which I read about on the same site, is that Stuart Weitzman is also coming and will apparently take the storefront currently occupied by North Face (which really shouldn’t have been in the Bloor-Yorkville area to begin with).  This means that the store will be significantly bigger than the current Stuart locations at Sherway Gardens and the Eaton Centre, which means more choices.  This is good news for anyone whose foot size is on either end of the spectrum – Stuart Weitzman is, after all, known for a wider range of sizes.

The Stuart Weitzman store at the Toronto Eaton Centre, one of two stores currently in the GTA.  The other store is at Sherway Gardens.  A third store is supposedly opening in Yorkville.

As for the other storefronts:  Moon Apparel is a pop-up and will be around until January.  After that, it, along with the old Escada store, will apparently become the Brooks Brothers flagship (though I don’t think it’s been officially announced yet – again, something that was posted on another site).  The old Betsey Johnson store, along with a spot on the lower level, have been leased.  No word as to who is moving in just yet.  What’s really interesting is that the old MAC spot still sits empty after the store moved to a slightly larger location next door.  I hope that the spot doesn’t sit empty for long.  It looks kind of sad, there’s so much activity going on elsewhere.

Have you heard any Bloor-Yorkville rumours?
