With blacks and olives as the dominant shades as well as sparks of green and lavendar here and there, Mulberry’s Autumn/Winter 2011 collection, presented with a backdrop of shrubs, certainly looked like it was inspired by the English countryside. Many of the looks even felt like nature, with its dark, mossy tones and flowing fabrics. There was also a touch of lavendar, seen in a gorgeous wool dress (a favourite of ours) with a pleated skirt as well as a touch of brighter green.

Hemlines for Mulberry are all over the place. Long, flowing maxi skirts as well as knee length looks were seen on the runway. Different styles, ranging from the above mentioned pleated dress to layered pieces as well as tweeds and quilted looks abound (quilted pieces were seen at several other London shows as well) and most looks were paired with booties or knee-high boots. Most of the pieces were very representative, either in colour or style, of what one might find in the woods, especially in the fall. The star of the Mulberry catwalk was not a celebrity model or show-stopping dress, but a dog. On a leash and walked by a model wearing a belted fur coat and long mossy green skirt, the dog was wearing an layered doggie sweater similar to what was seen on the runway. Absolutely adorable and very much in touch with the countryside theme.
