Mushroom Bags at Cydelic by Choryin

The one thing that caught my eye at Cydelic by Choryin were the bags.  Every single one of the models carried one, all mushroom shaped, but designed very differently.  With chains and rod handles, the bags’ styles ranged from animal print to loud colours such as magenta and bright blue as well as three dimensional shapes. The audience got a very detailed look at them as the presentation was held in the studio rather than the main runway.  This was a good thing – had the show been in a larger space, the bags would have not been noticed.

Size-wise, they were a little on the big side – probably closer to a shopper or tote than a traditionally sized purse.  Maybe this is a move away from the clutch that everyone seems to be carrying these days?  Or, are we just sticking with the fact that many of us carry huge bags anyway, since many of us have so much to lug with us (from tablets to phones, wallets, make-up and so forth).

While the uniqueness of these bags look like they could spruce up just about any boring office outfit, there is a downside.  The sheer size of the bags (probably about 15 inches width at the widest point) alone can be big for some people and some of the designs would just overwhelm (and not to mention, heavy, thanks to the chain and wood handles).  Of course, that isn’t to say that these bags aren’t a work of art – they definitely are – and despite my size, I may very well want to get one.
