New Year’s Resolutions Suggestions

Every year, people make New Year’s Resolutions – such as “Eat Healthy Food, Get More Fit, Clean Your House, Be a Better Person, etc.” – but very few are able to stick it out.  So, here is our some suggestions to help make that resolution into a reality.

RESOLVE TO EAT HEALTHIER FOOD:

fruits and veggies

Lots of people resolve to start cooking at home more and then with their busy lives, end up back to eating Ramen noodles or McDonald’s.  If you truly want to cook at home more, then begin by resolving to do so once a week, such as every Wednesday night is home-cooked night.  Or, if with your life commitments that too is likely to not be sustainable, simply stock your larder with natural foods like nuts, honey and dates.  Keep these handy – rather than candy bars or perishables – for those low energy moments.  Not only do they give an instant energy boost, they give one that lasts for a few hours rather than minutes.

RESOLVE TO GET MORE FIT:

Instead of enrolling in classes you may never go to or buying fitness equipment that may end up being a place to hang your clothes rather than to work out on, why not simply park further away when you are going to work or to somewhere where you aren’t carrying anything heavy.  This simple action will automatically build into use of your body into your life, something many of us with desk jobs sorely need.

NEW YEAR’S CLEANING:

It may seem very daunting, but cleaning out your house/room can actually be cathartic.  Like working out, it’s one of those things that is hard to commit to doing, but once you start, you feel absolutely great.  What better way to start 2013 then by seeing what you own, deciding what you need and giving away the rest – fabulous karma!

This applies to your digital life as well.  Cleaning out that inbox may seem very overwhelming but is definitely a necessary task, to keep your files organized and within allocated space limits.

These tasks will feng shui your life, simply by cleaning out what is no longer needed by you.

PAY IT FORWARD:

Make it a point to do a random act of kindness daily.  This could be anything from buying coffee for the next person in line to getting up in the subway so an older person can sit down.  If you start doing this daily, life will bring you unlimited opportunities to serve your fellow men and women.

GENERAL ADVICE:

Life Edition

If you need more help or guidance to be motivated, it may be worthwhile to get a workbook such as Creating Your Incredible Year E-Workbooks by Leonie Dawson, available in both a Life Edition (above) or a Business Edition, or a special combo featuring both.  What’s particularly effective about these workbooks is that they come with corresponding calendars so the workbook helps you write down specific goals and then you can immediately schedule them into the calendar so you can start taking actions to achieve the goals by year-end.  Dawson also guides you how to stop doing things that drain your energy; a priceless skillset that is life-changing.
