I recently had the wonderful opportunity to speak with trendy, New York-based designer Nili Lotan.  Ms. Lotan’s pieces, often celebrity favourites, target a sophisticated woman who is not only looking for classic, long-lasting style, but also comfort.  The current Fall/Winter collection is filled with loose, comfortable pieces that pair well with skinnies or leggings and boots, perfect for brunch, dinner out or even just a shopping trip around town.  Can’t you just see yourself wearing one of her sweaters with a pair of leggings and booties while sipping wine at a bistro?  The looks are also perfect for relaxing with a nice cup of hot chocolate while at a skiing getaway weekend!  Ms. Lotan’s philosophy is to make timeless pieces that would fit any woman’s lifestyle, especially modern, city-living type, anywhere between 25 and 60.  So yes, mom and daughter could very well both be wearing Nili Lotan!

The colours may be plain this season – blacks, winter whites and greys – but the colours allow for a blank canvas, meaning that the wearer can style it however she pleases.  I do admit that some of the looks are a bit bulky and overwhelming on smaller women, so I was actually surprised when Ms. Lotan mentioned that the petite Lady Gaga (who is often quoted as being 5’1″ or 5’2″) is a fan.  The collection is also is full of soft, cashmere sweaters as well as sweatshirts, with a price point that is similar to Rag & Bone.  Currently, pieces from the collection are available at TNT The New Trend in Toronto.
