Old Navy Launches Sub-brand, Studio Spotlight

While many mall brands are collaborating with major designers to create capsule collections, Old Navy has decided to look within.  They will be launching their first Studio Spotlight capsule collection later this month.  Studio Spotlight features creations by the brand’s design team, with each highlighting the designer’s personality.  The first, launching later this month, is by women’s designer, Kim Brennecke.

The first Studio Spotlight Collection

Media recently had the chance to preview Kim’s collection at the Burroughes Building in Toronto. The nine piece collection has a very whimsical, Boho-Victorian feel, with tops, skirts, dresses and pants.  They are light-weight and definitely warm-weather ready (NOTE: the tops are a little bit see-through, so a camisole is highly recommended).  Each piece also has a small bee icon – in reference to Kim’s name – Kim is often called “Kim B.” by her friends.  The bee logo was also seen throughout the venue, mostly in bright orange and yellow shades.

The debut Studio Spotlight collection will be available in stores (in Toronto, the collection will be available at the Toronto Eaton Centre and Yorkdale) and online April 7.  Prices for these pieces range between $19.94 and $39.94.
