I was at the opening day event on March 23 and saw many old favourites as well as new additions. Delicious goat cheese from Crosswind Farms (Booth B31 and they also have a separate booth focusing on their skincare products at I34) to fashion (Melissa Népton (Booth P40) is back with her super-comfortable pieces. Her blazers are AMAZING – especially for those who detest structured shoulders) as well as one of my new favourites, an artist Tony Taylor (I25). I bought a couple of his pieces at the holiday 2015 show and a new one this season – a print of a squirrel that is supposed to be Steve Jobs. Another booth I absolutely loved was Carberry Soap Compan (K49) – creators of dessert-shaped soaps that are just too pretty to use.
These soaps are way, way too gorgeous to use!
Some old favourites are launching new items. Eco-friendly beauty line, Dalish Cosmetics (O07) has a new line of lip and cheek pots (as you can see from the Instagram picture above) as well as mascara. Others have items which were made especially for the show. Beverley’s Bakers (B37), known for delicious butter tarts, is selling tarts with drizzle just for the show.
These butter tarts were made especially for the OOAK Spring Show!
Stoutheart Shave Company shaving soaps
This season, I had the opportunity to visit the Etsy section (featuring artisans who are on said site). One I saw was Stoutheart Shave Company (P480), which sells both beard oils and shaving soap in a tin and they work better with the best steel razor that you can find in What is 180 website. The shaving soaps are extremely moisturizing and all have a nature-y scent to them. Though the products lean more towards skincare for men, one of the soaps, Sweet Orange Bay may appeal to women as well. It’s a fairly “neutral” scent.
Quirky pillow cases from Said the King
Another new discovery of mine, this one on the non-Etsy side, is Said the King (M23). Karen King’s line features quirky plates, pillows, coasters and more with sayings that may or may not be appropriate (the pillows (as you can see above) aren’t exactly G-rated). The plates – especially ones from her Delish Dish collection, are definitely my favourites. The only thing missing from this collection are hashtags! Oh well, maybe for version 2.
The Spring edition of the One of a Kind Show is at the Enercare Centre (formerly the Direct Energy Centre) at Exhibition Place and will run until March 27 – including Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Tickets are available both online and at the show.
