Operanation the annual Canadian Opera Company (COC) fundraiser is just over a week away. Occurring Friday, October 21, this year’s theme is called “A Muse Ball,” and promises to be, according to the website, ” a celebration of artistic inspiration and the mix-and-mingle of art and life.” The featured performer this year is Rufus Wainwright. The event, as in previous years, will take place at the Four Seasons Centre for Performing Arts.
The event is currently running a campaign on their website called “The Daily Muse” which features personalities such as designers Ashley Rowe (see above video) and Arthur Mendonça on who and what inspires them most in terms of creativity. It it is actually fitting that this year’s event is held just as LG Fashion Week is coming to a close as many of the profilees in The Daily Muse are from the fashion industry. After having covered Operanation for four years, this is the first time I’ve seen fashion directly involved at the event. Style and opera go hand-in-hand. Just take a look at the costumes in various productions over the years.
Of course, muses don’t only inspire designers and fashion editors. Others in the creative industries are also profiled, including musicians, actors and more. Non-fashion influencers profiled include COC soprano Ambur Braid as well as COC general director, Alexander Neef.
Tickets for Operanation are still available at $150 per person and can be purchased online. The event begins at 9 pm. Who is YOUR muse?
